How to Wash and Care for DTF Printed Shirts
Correct laundering protects the garment and the printed design. Care instructions can vary by transfer and fabric, but a few habits are generally safer for decorated apparel.
Wait before the first wash
Allow the print to settle after pressing. Follow the transfer supplier's recommended waiting period before laundering, especially for a freshly produced order.
Turn the garment inside out
Washing inside out reduces rubbing against zippers, buttons and other clothing. It also limits direct abrasion against the printed surface.
Use cool water and a gentle cycle
Cool water is typically friendlier to decorated apparel and helps reduce garment shrinkage and color stress. Use a normal mild detergent and avoid harsh treatments unless the garment manufacturer and transfer supplier approve them.
Avoid chlorine bleach
Bleach can damage garment color and printed decoration. Spot treatments can also affect the area around a design, so test cautiously.
Control dryer heat
High heat can stress both fabric and decoration. Tumble dry low or air dry when possible. Remove the garment promptly instead of baking it through a long hot cycle.
Do not iron directly on the print
If ironing is needed, turn the shirt inside out and avoid direct contact between a hot iron and the graphic. A household iron can melt or mark decorated surfaces.
Give customers a care card
Add a small printed card or label to every order: wash inside out, use cool water, avoid bleach, dry on low and do not iron the design. Clear instructions reduce confusion and show customers that the shop stands behind its work.
